Special Olympics – April
Special Olympics City of Hull athlete Angus Leckonby was amongst the headline makers at Sunday’s TCS London Marathon, after he walked away with two Guinness World Records titles and inspired runners around the world.
Angus, who was attempting his first ever marathon, set new records as the Fastest and Youngest person to run a marathon (II1) (Male) after completing the 26.2-mile event in three hours, 36 minutes and 38 seconds.
His achievements were celebrated beyond the finish line in London, with Special Olympics GB partner Ocean Outdoor showcasing his success on their giant digital screen in Leicester Square.
Speaking after his record-breaking run, Angus said: “Running the London Marathon and achieving these Guinness World Records means the world to me. I hope it shows other athletes with intellectual disabilities that anything is possible if you believe in yourself and work hard.”
British Blind Sport – April

For 50 years, BBS has been supporting blind and partially sighted people in the UK live more active, healthy and independent lives through sport and physical activity.
Our new membership offering includes three new tiers – Active Membership, Professionals and Friends of BBS.
Our new free Active Membership is designed for those who embrace an active lifestyle, no matter your activity level – from a simple walk to more intense workouts or group fitness.
Dwarf Sports Association UK – 25 April
DSAuk Serves Up a Smashing Day of Badminton at Sheffield EIS.
Members of the Dwarf Sports Association UK (DSAuk) enjoyed an action-packed Saturday during an exciting badminton tournament at the Sheffield English Institute of Sport (EIS). The event kicked of 2025’s National Event calendar, echoing the ability-based format introduced in 2023.
The day kicked off with a focused half-hour session of half-court singles. This element is designed to assess participants’ skill levels, allowing the coaches to form fair and competitive groupings. It set the tone for a high-energy and inclusive tournament, where everyone had a chance to shine.
Throughout the morning, players took part in singles matches, showing off their talent and determination. The intensity and skill on display demonstrated just how far many of the participants have progressed, both competitively and personally.
After a lunch break, the format shifted in the afternoon to feature doubles matches. This change brought a new layer of excitement and teamwork, with players paired up to take on fresh challenges together.
