As the Winter Paralympics begin, everyone at Activity Alliance would like to wish ParalympicsGB the very best of luck.
We are proud to cheer on the athletes who will represent Great Britain on the world stage, showcasing extraordinary talent and determination. Moments like these capture the power of sport, and show exactly why we need to continue to work to ensure all disabled people feel they belong in sports and activities.
As athletes take to the snow and ice, their performances will thrill us all. But away from Milan there are important messages to highlight. Disabled people deserve the same rights and opportunities to be active as their non-disabled peers.
Our latest Annual Disability and Activity Survey showed disabled people are still being left behind when trying to access sports and physical activities. Only four in 10 disabled people feel they have the opportunity to be active as they want to be, compared to seven in 10 non-disabled people.
Every Body Moves is developed by ParalympicsGB in partnership with Toyota as part of their commitment to making movement better for everyone.
Their ambition is to create the UK’s biggest fun and vibrant community for players, parents and coaches to share their experiences of Every Body Moves, and find useful hints, tips and information on what’s happening near you. This includes in depth listings and all the information needed to connect to local inclusive opportunities. Over the next nine days we will get to enjoy what will be an fabulous event, but also take a moment to ensure that fundamental change follows so many more disabled people can enjoy being active.
